Executive recruiting could use a makeover.
To be clear, I’m not looking to get into the recruiting business; I’ll leave that to some other entrepreneurs I know :) But I am looking to help executives, hiring managers, and recruiters in my network.
If you’re an exec, does this sound familiar?
You don't always find out about the best opportunities, because executive roles aren't advertised. They are probably not even posted to the company's website.
You try to network so that people think of you when those special opportunities come up. But you don't have time to do as much networking as you'd like — perhaps especially if you’re dedicated and great at your current role. The pandemic has also created new barriers to networking.
If you are from an underrepresented group, you may feel you are at a disadvantage when it comes to people automatically thinking of you when that amazing opportunity arises.
At the same time, you get pinged by recruiters about many roles that aren't relevant or appealing.
I'm looking to do my part to change this situation for my community. That's why I started the Opportunity Seekers Club. The name is ironic, since it's actually not a club at all -- it's far more inclusive than that, although skewed toward people I’m connected with on LinkedIn. Here's how it works:
You take 2 minutes to fill in some basic information about yourself here.
I email you when I hear about an executive opportunity at one of my portfolio companies or another company that I'm in touch with.
You reach out to the company directly if you're interested. I'm not involved in any follow-up.
I never tell anyone that you're open to new opportunities. That's your secret.
Join >500 other executives in the Opportunity Seekers Club by signing up here.
Are you a CEO/recruiter who is looking to hire an executive (C-level or VP-level)? Send me your job description and I'll distribute it to the right people in the Club.
